Just a brief update about my children’s book: Memphis Belle
I have an illustrator for Memphis Belle! You can see a sample of the work below.
I am putting together my own publishing company. For the number of hours I’ve spent researching agents, writing letters, looking up publishers, I could have already published this myself.
Well, I did have one publisher say yes. But they weren’t going to offer me a traditional contract. They offered the “hybrid” deal, where I would have to pay for my own illustrator, and part of the publishing costs, but would keep more of the profit. So… I figured I might as well be my own publisher.

I am also putting together a Kickstarter for the book, but, I need to get the business organized first.
I’ve also decided to go with IngramSpark for printing. I like that my book would be automatically available to libraries, and the printing costs are very reasonable. I’ll likely still go through Amazon for the digital copy.
I have a very rough timeline of launching the Kickstarter at the beginning of the year, and printing 6 months after it ends.
